Cancer Care Services provides help and hope to cancer patients and their families through
financial, emotional, spiritual and social support.
Who does CCS help?
Anyone impacted by cancer living in Tarrant, Parker or Hood County
Financial assistance for qualifying cancer patients whose current income is at 250% of the federal poverty level or less for the following: cancer prescriptions, food supplements, medical equipment, supplies, transportation reimbursements, COBRA insurance payments, dental assistance, personal and/or respite care, emergency funds, massage
Emotional support for everyone:
Free, one-on-one family or group counseling
Spiritual support for everyone: Free, one-on-one counseling, Bible studies, prayer ministry, support groups
Social support for everyone: Free, general or specialized support groups, art therapy, children’s play expression, yoga, massage therapy, educational seminars
and other seasonal social activities and movie nights

2009 Facts

94 percent of CCS clients report they are better able to function and cope on a day-to-day basis because of CCS's involvement.

63 percent of all newly-diagnosed cancer patients living at poverty in Hood, Parker and Tarrant counties are assisted by CCS.

Most new clients receiving financial help are visited in their own homes by a CCS cancer navigator who is a licensed social worker.

No federal funding or insurance reimbursements are received.

Administrative overhead was only 20% of the budget in 2009.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure Tarrant County awarded a grant of $176,492 to provide comprehensive services for breast cancer clients.
More than 100 volunteers donated 2,043 hours of time for a monetary value of $42,508.
CCS completed a comprehensive business plan which will serve as a compass for the future. During 2010 it will be shared with key donors and foundations as we work to increase funding to provide services to an increasing number of cancer patients.
